Job Description

Registered Nurses provide care to individuals who need assistance as they deal with the effects of aging, injury, surgery, or illness.

Please note that this for agency staffing support.

The role will include :

  • In collaboration with the patient / family / caregiver and other health care professionals, help formulate a plan of care based on patient assessment
  • Evaluate effectiveness of treatment plan(s) and adjust accordingly in consultation with the patient / family / caregiver and other health care professionals
  • Act as a patient advocate by protecting and promoting patient rights
  • Travel within your region between patients’ homes
  • Providing services in a variety of settings which may include in-home, clinic, retirement home or school
  • Performing other clinical duties as required
  • Experience in wound care, IV medications and re-sites, catheter care, compression / VAC and ostomy care considered an asset
  • Delegate as required within your scope of practice

Qualifications

  • Have one of the following qualifications :
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BScN)
  • Bachelor of Nursing degree (BN)
  • Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Experience as a visiting nurse, visiting registered nurse, visiting registered practical nurse, and / or community nurse considered an asset
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel and reach, ability to lift 50lbs (23 kg) independently, ability to assist clients with standing, walking, and sitting;

ability to reposition clients in bed

  • Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR
  • Updated immunization records (including completion of a two-step tuberculosis test within the last 6 months)
  • Clear criminal background check, and Vulnerable sector check are required upon hire
  • Ability to interact with others in a caring, tactful and courteous manner
  • Excellent problem solving, time management, and crisis resolution skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Valid G2 / G driver’s license and access to a reliable car, considered an asset
  • Ability to use phone applications
